Nature has its own way of solving medical issues among men and erectile dysfunction is not an exemption. In fact, it has been found out that foods rich in flavonoids can lower erection issues. This can even work among men in their 70’s, a study that was verified by Harvard University as well as University of East Anglia and published by American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

The most potent flavonoids that counter erectile problems are anthocyanins. These are commonly found in cherries, blueberries, radishes, blackberries and blackcurrant. Flavones and flavanines found in citrus fruits can also prevent erectile problem according to a study done by Harvard University and University of Anglia.

The problem on erection is never a rare problem. In fact, 52% of men’s population is suffering from such disorder. And this number accelerates to 70% for men ageing 70. Those who are diabetic and those who have cardiac illnesses are more prone to erectile problem. Lifestyle changes can also be of big help to solve this issue. Exercise for instance reduces the risk of ED and if this is combined with flavonoid rich foods, there will be a significant decrease of such disorder up to 21%.

“Taking in flavonoids rich foods will lower down risk of certain medical conditions like cardiovascular illnesses, diabetes and erectile dysfunction”, said Professor Aedin Cassidy; lead researcher of the study said. “Erectile dysfunction is affecting 50% of all middle aged men and those who are older”, he added.

Today, there are a lot of myths regarding erectile dysfunction. However, one has to know that this can signify a major medical issue. Hence, it requires consultation from a medical practitioner.

A new study was also conducted among 50,000 men in their middle age. The study takes into consideration other factors like smoking, caffeine intake, physical activity and weight. The research is also limited among men with good health. Findings show that more than one third of the subjects experience erectile dysfunction onsets. However, those who are taking anthocyanins, flavanones and flavones on their diet less likely suffer such condition. Hence, it only shows that diet plays a major part in managing ED issues.

The best sources of anthocyanins, flavanones and flavones are blueberries, strawberries, apples, red wine, citrus products and pears. Hence, if you are thinking of treating your erectile dysfunction the natural way, you can choose among these options. Who knows, with proper diet and exercise, you may restore the quality of sex life that you used to have.
