SAN ANTONIO, Texas — The Lake Erie Monsters scored three unanswered goals to defeat the San Antonio Rampage, 3-2, in an American Hockey League game Friday at the AT&T Center.
The Monsters are now 32-19-5-5 after stopping a three-game losing streak. San Antonio ifalls to 24-30-8-0.
San Antonio jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first on goals by Nate Guenin and Alex Belzile, the second on a power play.
The Monsters got one back before the end of the first when Alex Broadhurst scored his fifth of the season with 19 seconds left in the period.
Lake Erie tied it at 11:50 of the second on a goal by Dillon Heatherington, then took the lead when Broadhurst scored on a power play at 15:47.
Anton Forsberg stopped 32 of 34 shots for the Monsters to improve to 17-9-4. Rampage goalie Reto Berra had 34 saves.
The first period featured eight penalties (five on the Monsters), including four five-minute fighting penalties.
He’s back: Goalie Joonas Korpisalo was back with the Monsters after his assignment with the Columbus Blue Jackets. In 26 NHL appearances, Korpisalo was 14-8-4 with a 2.63 GAA and a .918 save percentage. His last game with the Monsters was Jan. 3 when stopped 22 shots in a 5-2 road loss to the Chicago Wolves.
