“Negotiations with the hijackers have begun at Larnaca airport”, EgyptAir said in a live tweet in Arabic.

Egypt’s civil aviation ministry’ representative, Amr al-Gamal, “One of the passengers claimed to have an explosive belt and forced the aircraft to land in Cyprus.”

The flight has 81 passengers on borad, according to the ministry, and took off from Borg el-Arab airport near Alexandria and was en route to Cairo.

All passengers have left plane except five foreigners,according to media reports. Officials say hijackers have allowed woman, children and Egyptian to leave the flight.

Three Britons ‘among passengers still on plane with hijhacker’.The five remaining passengers are: 3 British, one Italian, Irish, according to Egyptian media.
