Parsippany Mayor James Barberio and Deputy Police Chief Richard Pantina conducted a promotion ceremony March 2 for Police Officer Peter Rizzolo, who has been promoted to the rank of sergeant.
Sgt. Rizzolo, 46, and started his career with the Parsippany-Troy Hills Police Department in 1992.
He is a graduate of the 41st Basic Police Officers class at the Morris County Public Safety Academy and has an associate’s degree from the County College of Morris.
Rizzolo serves on the Tactical Rifle Team and holds certifications as a crash investigator, firearms instructor and DARE instructor.
Sgt. Rizzolo also received two Unit Commendation Awards and one Command Citation Award during his time at the Parsippany Police Department.
He will remain assigned to the Patrol Division.
Rizzolo is a married father of three, and his father, Robert Rizzolo, is a retired detective from the Parsippany Police Department.
